Sector: Midstream Infrastructure
Challenge: Tight delivery, Annex H/K spec, double jointing, and coated 80-foot lengths
Volume: Large-diameter, long-length pipe with sour service and coating requirements
Overview
Our customer needed a large-diameter pipe—42″ OD, API 5L X65 grade—capable of handling sour service conditions under Annex H and K. Compounding the challenge, the end user required the pipe in 80-foot double-jointed lengths, delivered pre-coated with a multi-part epoxy system. The timeline was fixed, and the materials had to arrive ready for installation with no room for delay.
Solution
Interpipe led a coordinated sourcing and processing plan to meet both the technical and logistical demands:
- Sour Service Expertise: Sourced material that met stringent Annex H/K chemical and mechanical specs for sour gas service.
- Double-Jointing Coordination: Oversaw welding and fabrication of 80′ double-jointed pipe while maintaining traceability and dimensional tolerances.
- Advanced Coating: Managed application of a 3-part epoxy system in controlled conditions, ensuring full cure prior to shipment.
- Just-in-Time Logistics: Scheduled delivery to match construction sequencing at the job site, eliminating laydown delays.
Interpipe delivered all materials to the job site on time, fully coated, and to exact spec. The pre-fabricated, long-length joints allowed for streamlined installation and maintenance of critical progress on the slug catcher system—without compromising on performance or safety.
Meeting advanced sour service and coating requirements is one thing. Doing it on an accelerated timeline with double-jointed pipe is another. Interpipe’s ability to integrate fabrication, coating, and logistics made the impossible schedule possible.
